PEPFAR and MCC Join Forces to Usher in Era in Data Transparency Takes Sharing and Using Data to New Heights
Sharing and utilizing data effectively is essential for improving programs and holding one another accountable for impact. This is an area where the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has been recognized for its advancements and leadership, which include working with partner countries. PEPFAR is making another leap forward in data transparency through a new partnering with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) to advance the U.S. government’s effort to ensure data openness and transparency. The $21.5 million partnership will establish country-based, country-driven local data hubs to improve strategic planning, quality of care, and ultimately, health outcomes. The PEPFAR Dashboards enable all stakeholders, including U.S. citizens, civil society organizations, U.S. government agencies, donors, and host-country governments, to view and utilize PEPFAR data in an accessible and easy-to-use format. The Dashboards were launched in July 2014, with planned budgets, program results, and expenditure data – commencing the PEPFAR’s unprecedented turn toward transparency. Now, disaggregated program indicator results data are available—allowing all stakeholders the opportunity to independently analyze the PEPFAR program’s effectiveness and cost efficiency at a granular level.
Country Operational Plans & Regional Operational Plans
Fiscal Years 2007-2013 of the PEPFAR Country Operational Plans and Regional Operational Plans are also available. These are proposed plans for bilateral resources submitted by the U.S. embassies in each country, excluding funding information to be determined by partners.
